I build the plumbing that makes open education findable. Things I can be hired for:

• Nostr protocol-based systems: relays, crawlers, indexes, and clients that avoid platform lock-in.
• Metadata infrastructure for education: data models, application profiles, validation, and the pipelines around them.
• SKOS vocabularies and linked data: publishing, reconciliation, and setting up SkoHub.
• Workshops and consulting: standards selection, metadata strategy, and hands-on training for editorial and developer teams.

• Ideas that get tested in public. In 2025 I wrote an essay arguing that open education needs a shared protocol rather than more platforms. Since then a small group of us has been building exactly that on Nostr: the edufeed relays now hold over 100,000 AMB-described resources, a community calendar, and an MCP server for AI assistants. The 2026 status report describes what works and what does not yet.
• Standards work, not only standards use. I have been part of the DINI-AG-KIM metadata groups since the AMB profile was taking shape, and I led its curricula group until the MEM project was set up at FWU to pursue that work in a dedicated way. I wrote the NIP-AMB, NIP-VOCAB, and NIP-DIDACTIC specifications that carry AMB and SKOS over Nostr. In 2024 the BMBF appointed me to its OER advisory board for metadata infrastructure. I have published evaluation criteria for choosing metadata standards, and the Kompendium Didaktische Metadaten, written together with Manuel Oellers, collects what we know about metadata and education infrastructure in one place.
• Software SkoHub, which I maintained at hbz, runs at IQB, SODIX/FWU, and WirLernenOnline. The prototype I built at GWDG became the basis of the WirLernenOnline ETL pipeline and search. Curricula as linked data started as a side project in 2020 and led to a project at FWU that is developing the machine-readable curricula ontology further.
• Protocols over platforms, with open eyes. I have built on ActivityPub and on Nostr (edufeed), and tried RDF on both. What I care about is that data and identities stay portable and that public education infrastructure does not walk into lock-in and silo traps.

• Ideen, die öffentlich erprobt werden. 2025 habe ich in einem Essay argumentiert, dass offene Bildung ein gemeinsames Protokoll braucht und nicht noch mehr Plattformen. Seitdem baut eine kleine Gruppe von uns genau das auf Nostr: Auf den edufeed-Relays liegen inzwischen über 100.000 mit AMB beschriebene Ressourcen, ein Community-Kalender und ein MCP-Server für KI-Assistenten. Der Zwischenbericht von 2026 beschreibt, was funktioniert und was noch nicht.
• Standards mitgestalten, nicht nur anwenden. Ich bin in den Metadaten-Gruppen der DINI-AG-KIM dabei, seit das AMB-Profil Gestalt angenommen hat, und habe dort die Curricula-Gruppe geleitet, bis das MEM-Projekt eingerichtet wurde, um das Vorhaben dediziert zu begleiten. Ich habe die Spezifikationen NIP-AMB, NIP-VOCAB und NIP-DIDACTIC geschrieben, die AMB und SKOS über Nostr transportieren. 2024 hat mich das BMBF für Metadateninfrastruktur in seinen OER-Beirat berufen. Zur Auswahl von Metadatenstandards habe ich Bewertungskriterien publiziert. In dem Kompendium Didaktische Metadaten, welches ich gemeinsam mit Manuel Oellers verfasst habe, sind umfangreiche Informationen rund um Metadaten und Bildungsinfrastrukturen zusammengefasst.
• Software SkoHub, das ich am hbz betreut habe, läuft bei IQB, SODIX/FWU und WirLernenOnline. Der Prototyp, den ich an der GWDG gebaut habe, wurde zur Grundlage der ETL-Pipeline und Suche von WirLernenOnline. Lehrpläne als Linked Data begannen 2020 als Nebenprojekt und sind in einem Projekt gemündet, das die Ontologie für maschinenlesbare Lehrpläne am FWU weiterentwickelt.
• Protokolle statt Plattformen, mit offenen Augen. Ich habe Erfahrungen mit ActivityPub und Nostr (edufeed) gebaut und RDF auf beidem ausprobiert. Mir geht es darum, dass Daten und Identitäten portabel bleiben und öffentliche Bildungsinfrastruktur in keine Lock-In und Silo-Fallen läuft.
